01/21/2010: Charleston SC Post and Courier Review of Villains Debut CD
The Villains
'The Villains'
(DCM)
Listening to many of the tracks on the debut CD by The Villains, one might be reminded of styles of artists, such as Sheryl Crow or The Eagles.
In fact, several of the tracks on the CD, including "Let's Forget About Tonight" and "You Don't Have to Say" were co-written by Peter Stroud, who has written with both Crow and Don Henley.
The style on most of the tracks on "The Villains" mixes a distinct Americana vibe with an easily accessible pop sound. The result is a collection of songs that, while they might stay a bit on the safer side of things, will definitely stick with the listener long after the CD has stopped playing.
Standout tracks include "Let's Forget About Tonight," "What a Shame" and "Going Deaf for a Living." Picture great pop-rock bands such as The Eagles and Fleetwood Mac, and you'll begin to get an idea of what waits for you with The Villains.
The band has opened for the likes of Dwight Yoakum and Trace Atkins, and with the quality of the recordings on this CD, it is easy to see why.
Download These: "Let's Forget About Tonight," "What a Shame," "Going Deaf for a Living."
